Jean-Yves Thibaudet

Am 5. Mai 2017 begeisterte der französische Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet das Publikum in der Moritzbastei bei seiner KLASSIK-underground-Session. In seinem Konzert präsentierte nicht nur seine ganze Vielseitigkeit als Pianist, sondern gab auch den Blick frei auf Ungewohntes. Mit Kompositionen von Eric Satie und Prokofjevs begann der Abend, um dann über Poulenc‘ Sextour für Piano und Bläsersextett Aufmerksamkeit für ein selten aufgeführtes Klavierwerk zu richten. Im Finale verneigte sich Thibaudet gemeinsam mit dem Drummer Phillip Scholz und dem Bassisten Phillip Rohmer vor Bill Evans, dem „großen Lyriker des Jazz“, wie die LVZ in der Konzertrezension schrieb. Am Ende gab es großen Applaus, bevor auch diese KLASSIK-underground-Session ihren Ausklang an der Bar der Moritzbastei fand.

On May 5th, 2017, French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet thrilled the audience at his KLASSIK underground aftershow. He presented not only his multifaceted abilities at the keyboard, but also delighted his audience with a unique transition from classical to jazz. The evening began with the music of Satie and Prokofiev before Jean-Yves Thibaudet performed Poulenc’s “Sextour” for Wind Quintet and Piano together with musicians from the Gewandhaus Orchestra.

In the final set, Jean-Yves Thibaudet joined forces with drummer, Philipp Scholz, and Bassist, Philip Rohmer, to perform the jazz works of Bill Evans and George Gershwin. The aftershow was met with rapturous applause from the sold-out audience before this KLASSIK underground experience came to its conclusion at the Moritzbastei bar.
